In actively managing the Compartment, the investment manager uses a risk-managed approach to seek additional performance opportunities, and pursues a flexible asset allocation strategy with a bias towards companies with superior ESG characteristics. It also excludes or significantly restricts direct investments in issuers that are deemed harmful to society or the environment such as tobacco, weapons and fossil fuels, or are in severe breach of international norms on human rights and other matters such as labour standards and environmental protection. It methodically exercises voting rights and may engage with issuers in order to positively influence ESG practices. The portfolio composition is not constrained relative to the benchmark, so the similarity of the Compartment's performance to that of the benchmark may vary.
